Minimum Qualifications

· Associate’s degree in Welding from an accredited institution or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential
· 4 years of full-time equivalent work experience in the welding field
 
OR
Documentation of significant experience or contributions to the discipline demonstrated through:
· 6 or more years of full-time equivalent work experience in the welding field
· Technical and performance competency or other qualifying credentials

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience teaching at the secondary or post-secondary levels
· Experience developing course curricula
· Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
· Ability to multi-task and effectively manage high-pressure situations

Position Description

Job Description
The Welding Instructor is a full-time, 12-month position located on the Tyson Family Center for Technology Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Director of Advanced Manufacturing, the Welding Instructor assumes primary responsibility for the development, instruction, and assessment of assigned welding courses.

Licenses and/or certifications used for credentialing purposes must be kept current by the employee, unless communicated otherwise.

Job Duties
· Teach assigned welding courses.
· Develop course curriculum.
· Maintain updated course materials and resources.
· Maintain office hours as appropriate to ensure accessibility to students and colleagues.
· Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position.
· Remain current with developments in the industry/field and instructional best practices.
· Actively participate in continuous program improvement through the assessment of learning outcomes at the course and program level.
· Participate in developing recommendations for program budgets, including forecasting anticipated budgetary needs for staffing, equipment, and supplies.
· Participate in learner recruitment activities such as open houses, tours, information sessions, etc.
· Participate in professional development and training opportunities, as appropriate.
· Actively participate in College committees and activities.
· Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, innovation, collaboration, and institutional commitment in all actions.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, Associate Vice President, or Vice President.

*Teaching assignments will be based on the needs of the College at one or more of the following campuses: L.L. Polk (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway (Monroe), Tyson Family Center for Technology (Monroe), and at high school or community locations, including correctional settings. Assignments may be scheduled in person or online during the day, evening, or on weekends.
