Community colleges can apply for Finish Line Grants to help students

Financial emergencies can prevent community college students who are close to completion from reaching that milestone. In July 2018, Gov. Roy Cooper, along with NC Community College System President Peter Hans, announced the Finish Line Grants program to help students complete their training when facing unforeseen challenges. Finish Line Grants can be used for course materials, housing, medical needs, dependent care or other financial emergencies that students face through no fault of their own.

Local community colleges and local workforce development boards must submit a joint proposal to be an approved partnership to administer the Finish Line Grants program. Partnership proposals will be reviewed and approved by the North Carolina Department of Commerce Division of Workforce Solutions with input from the NC Community College System. Approved partnerships will be eligible to distribute Finish Line Grants to students.
