John C. Loyack

About
John C. Loyack serves as Vice President of Economic Development for the North Carolina Community College System, where he leads the Economic Development Division and its statewide initiatives, including ApprenticeshipNC, BioNetwork, NCEdge Customized Training, and the Small Business Center Network. Through North Carolina's network of 58 community colleges, the division provides education, training, and business support services that help strengthen the state's workforce and economy across all 100 counties.
Before joining the North Carolina Community College System, John held leadership roles with the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and the North Carolina Department of Commerce. His professional experience also includes positions with MercuryMD, Thomson Reuters, Time Warner, and Esteve Laboratories, providing him with a unique perspective that bridges both the public and private sectors.
John earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish from Gettysburg College and a Master of Business Administration in International Business Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is fluent in Spanish, holds a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP®) credential, and is a patent holder.
In addition to his leadership role with the North Carolina Community College System, John serves as Chair of the Board of Go Global NC and is a member of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center Board and the NC MEP Advisory Board.
John brings executive leadership, global business expertise, and a strategic vision for strengthening North Carolina's workforce and economy to the SBCN Startup Showdown leadership team.
