Mark Hagenbuch

About

Mark Hagenbuch serves as Deputy Director of the North Carolina Small Business Center Network. Since joining the Network's leadership team in 2023, he has brought nearly three decades of experience supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses across North Carolina through business counseling, entrepreneurship education, and statewide program leadership.

Prior to joining the Small Business Center Network leadership team, Mark served for more than 21 years as Director of the Small Business Center at Guilford Technical Community College following six years as a Business Counselor with the North Carolina Small Business & Technology Development Center. Throughout his career, he has helped thousands of entrepreneurs start, grow, and strengthen their businesses while advancing entrepreneurship education and small business development across the state.

Mark's leadership has been recognized with four North Carolina Small Business Center Network State Director of the Year awards. He was also named Small Business Advocate of the Year by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and was a finalist for the same recognition from the High Point Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his work with the Small Business Center Network, Mark served as a Lecturer in the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC Greensboro, where he taught entrepreneurship and small business courses at both the undergraduate and MBA levels.

Mark earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Arts in International and Comparative Economics from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. He also gives back to his community through service on the boards of organizations including Mental Health Greensboro, Piedmont Business Capital, and GenerationEd.

Mark brings decades of experience in entrepreneurship, business counseling, and small business development to the SBCN Startup Showdown leadership team.
