Earning a college degree has always been a goal of mine, one which seemed unattainable until I enrolled at ICC. Under the guidance, mentorship and tutelage of my dedicated instructors, I have excelled. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while taking six classes each semester, I earned the 2014 Outstanding Business Administration Award. As president of ICC’s chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, a mentee in ICC’s President’s Council Mentorship Program, and a participant in Leadership Rutherford (Rutherford County’s program for emerging community leaders), I am learning how to make valuable contributions to improve my community. Additionally, I proudly represented ICC at Phi Beta Lambda’s state competition where I placed first in Management Concepts and advanced to the national competition where I also earned first place in the nation.
My experience at ICC has been truly life changing. Through it all, I have relied on the support and unconditional love of my family to sustain me. My parents came to this country so my brothers and I could have a better life. My story is proof that no matter where you start your journey, with the right people surrounding you and a profound desire to succeed, you will always finish strong.
