Growing up I struggled through school, so initially I decided against college. At first it was fine, but after this past recession I realized without furthering my education I would not be able to provide a decent living for my family. In January 2011 I decided I was going to attend RCC to earn a degree. I was terrified because it had been 10 years since high school, and I felt school just wasn’t for me.
When I enrolled, I didn’t realize that I had made the best decision of my life. I have achieved many accomplishments these last few years such as maintaining an accumulative 4.0 GPA, being inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, I have been awarded two scholarships, and I have had the privilege of tutoring amazing students.
My biggest achievements in life to date were made here at RCC. In May 2015 I will graduate with my Associate Degree in Accounting and it will be with honors. Without the support of wonderful mentors at RCC, none of this would have been possible. Not only have I gained an education, I have developed relationships with incredible instructors that I will cherish for years to come.
