When it came to choosing a college for the first time, there were many important factors to consider. For example, the most important item to consider was the college’s offering of programs. Another factor involved “fit”. When you go for a tour of the college, you want to be sure the instructors match your learning style and seem to want to help you with a problem? While just going off these two examples should not be the ultimate deciding factors, they are certainly reasons why I chose to attend Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC). In my family, we are all encouraged to attend a community college in the hopes that if and when it comes time to transfer to a university, we will be ready to take on not only the rigor of the academics, but also understand the importance of culture and community.

I have found the instructors to be extremely helpful as they seek to bring out the best in me. The college is organized and well-guided. Prior to enrolling at RCCC, I participated in my high school marching band and traveled to Canada for the Calgary Stampede to raise money. While a student at RCCC, I have continued to value scholarship and service. I currently maintain a cumulative GPA of 4.0 while serving as a college Ambassador and a recipient of the Foundation’s Top Scholar Award.

My goal is to become a Mechanical Engineer. Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has helped to continue my journey of learning. Every day, I feel more prepared and more eager to be my best.
