I chose James Sprunt Community College because I was told they had a really good welding program and VA representative. As a veteran that was important to me. I was in the marines for four years and did two deployments overseas. I enjoyed welding in high school and on the farm so that is the career path I decided to follow. With my teachers help I became a certified welder. I am now working towards becoming pipe certified.

I have met a lot of people at JSCC and some have become my good friends. I have been given a nickname that has motivated and stuck with me the whole time I have been welding. I would recommend JSCC to anyone that wants to improve his/her life. Receiving this award has proven to me that with hard work I can graduate college and make something of my life. I was my mom’s first son to graduate high school and now will be the first to graduate college in May with a diploma in welding. I could not have done it without the help of my family, friends, instructor, Anthony Ramsey, and the students that have helped me along the way.
