I retired from the Marine Corps in 2009 and decided to further my education in pursuit of a different career. I decided to pursue a career in Business with a concentration in Human Resource Management so I enrolled at Gaston College in the fall of 2009. After getting my routine down of being back in school, I decided to give some time back to some of the young men and joined the Minority Male Mentoring Program (3M), Men of Excellence (MOE). I was chosen to serve as the President of the organization. Participating with MOE has opened my eyes more to the need for education amongst minority males in America.
As the President of MOE it allowed me to have interaction with the Student Government Association (SGA) of which I later became a Senator. The following semester I ran for President of SGA and was elected. I decided to join the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society during the Fall Semester of 2011. It has been a test of my management skill trying to balance my family life, work, attending classes, and participating in college activities. In May 2012, I intend to pursue my Bachelors degree at UNCC.
