Going back to school was a decision that was a long time coming for me. I was a bit of a rebel back in my youth and decided to forego college right after high school and instead entered the proverbial School of Hard Knocks.
I fell into retail management and after my daughter was born in 2006, I had pretty much resigned myself to the fate of working in that field for the rest of my life. But, I wasn’t satisfied and after a decade of working in retail I had reached my breaking point. I needed a change. I needed a direction. I needed to do something that actually mattered.
So, at age 33 I went back to school at Pitt Community College and it was the best decision I have ever made. I have had nothing but a positive experience in my time at PCC and the support and encouragement of the phenomenal faculty has truly been a blessing in my life. In the fall I will be transferring to ECU to pursue my degree in History Education and I couldn’t have done it without the skills and experiences I have gained at PCC.
