George Yandle
I am the type of person who is driven to succeed. Many people throughout my life told me I would never make it. In June 2011, I graduated from Richmond Senior High School with a GPA of 3.75.
Not knowing what I would do next, I decided to enroll at Richmond Community College in Fall 2011. There were still those people who told me I would not make it at a community college. Going to college has not been easy at all. In fact, at times I was not sure if I would make it. Richmond Community College was the best choice I could have made. The staff and faculty have been very helpful.
I will be graduating in May 2015 with my Associate in Arts degree. I went from being a shy person to becoming a student ambassador and SGA delegate. For those that told me I could not make it, I thank them because it motivated me to continue to strive and exceed my expectations. I will attend UNCP Fall 2015 majoring in Mass Communications. I will never forget where I started and will always remember those folks who helped and invested in me.
