Henry D. Beltran

After retiring from the military in the spring of 2011, I found myself at a crossroad.  I finished a great career but was unsure of what I wanted to do next.  I always had an interest in office work and the medical field.  I decided to see what opportunities were available in these areas.

I looked through the Wilson Community College student handbook that summer and found the start towards my new career.  I enrolled for the Fall Semester of 2011, pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Medical Office Administration and Office Administration.

I realized I had a big challenge ahead of me.  Not only was I attempting two degrees but also it had been over 10 years since I attended school.  Add in husband, stepfather, and home caretaker; it can fill one’s schedule.  However, I was determined to succeed.

Through all of the long hours of study and hard work, I will achieve what I started.  I will receive my degree in Medical Office Administration in the summer of 2013.  I plan to receive my degree in Office Administration in the spring of 2014.

My commitment has resulted in my being a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the recipient of the State Employees Credit Union Scholarship.
