Janet E. Joyner

My experience at Wilson Community College began in spring 2012 – 25 years after graduating from high school! As an adult learner I was apprehensive to begin the journey toward my two-year degree but had always regretted that I had never completed college.  From my very first meeting with my potential advisor in 2012 until today, I have felt welcomed and accepted on the campus of WCC.  The faculty and staff have soothed my anxieties every step of the way and reassured me that I can complete my degree.

Juggling a year-round, part-time class schedule in addition to working a full-time job has been nothing short of interesting.  It has caused me to set short-term and long-term goals, as well as set weekly priorities.  To look at the “big picture” continuously would have been overwhelming; but to focus on the next assignment that is due until it is complete has made this journey manageable and doable.  Using this methodology, I have been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout my educational experience here at WCC and my journey will culminate with graduation in May.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Wilson Community College to any student, young or old!
