Jennifer Rice

My early mentor is an amazing nurse who reached out to me as a teen and provided a sofa for me during my difficult youth.  I am currently enrolled in Coastal’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program, and my goals include graduation, licensure, and subsequently earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

My experience in the community college setting has provided me a network of dedicated educators to nurture my professional growth.  As the Vice President of Coastal’s Association of Nursing Students (ANS) chapter, I have responsibilities for community service, planning events, and facilitating decisions that affect my entire class.  My academic success has also allowed me to become an invited member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.  In addition to my academic service clubs, I volunteer twenty hours per week to a local horse rescue farm and photograph homecomings for returning military personnel.  I have found that the enjoyment from community service hours far surpasses any monetary value I might obtain from a normal job.

I am determined to succeed, despite all the challenges I have faced, and I am very goal-oriented because it could impact the lives of others.
