Jessica Cain

My name is Jessica Cain. I am 19 years old and I am currently enrolled in my fourth and final semester at Bladen Community College. I will graduate in May 2013 with my Associate in Arts degree.

Since I was 8 years old I wanted to attend North Carolina State University and study to become a civil engineer. However, all of my plans changed during my senior year of high school. After realizing that I did not want to pursue civil engineering, I decided that with graduation so close and me not knowing exactly what career I wanted to pursue, I would attend Bladen Community College and obtain my A.A. degree and then transfer to another school when I decided my focus of study.

Over the course of the two years that I have attended Bladen, I have become very involved on campus. I am currently serving as the Student Government Association Parliamentarian, school ambassador, member of Sigma Kappa Delta, and the student representative for our Quality Enhancement Plan. Also, while attending B.C.C., I have been awarded the Faculty Senate scholarship, Dean’s list and President’s list. In addition to the clubs that I have joined, I have also been working part-time on campus. My first year I worked as a tutor in our Learning Enhancement Center and I have been working in our work study program this year with our financial aid department.

With yet another graduation fast approaching I have recently decided to attend Fayetteville Technical Community College in the fall and pursue my Associates degree in radiology. Afterwards I plan to transfer to a university and study for a Bachelors degree.
