Kayla Wolverton

I arrived at Roanoke-Chowan Community College in 2011 at the age of fourteen as a college student and a full-time high school student. I quickly discovered a few challenges; such as the class sizes were different and I had to interact with more adults than teenagers. Shortly thereafter, my health presented a lifelong issue. But these challenges didn't scare me. I was ready to learn, prosper, and make the most of my decision.

Roanoke-Chowan Community College has given me opportunities that I would have never received if I had chosen any other path. The staff has given me so much hope for my future. They treat me like family and show me what learning should be about. It warms my heart to know that I will be graduating in May 2015 with both my Associate in Arts degree and a high school diploma. I am proud to have completed the five year Early College Program in four years, while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. I plan to enroll at either UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC- Charlotte, or East Carolina University in Fall 2015 to pursue a major in Psychology.
