I moved to Richmond County about 3 years ago.  I had been working the NC Army National Guard full-time.  For the first year I stayed at home with my 4 year old daughter.  Once she started school, I decided to go back to school myself.  I originally went to Richmond Community College to get Substitute Teacher training in the Continuing Education Program.  Then I decided that I wanted to take more classes, but I didn’t know what career field to pursue.  The staff at RCC advised and mentored me.  Ms. Sheri Dunn-Ramsay taught me my first education class.  Through her teaching of Early Childhood Education, I figured out what I wanted to pursue as my new career.

I am currently in the Early Childhood Education program.  The Education Department has an excellent staff.  Each of my teachers Ms. Johnson, Ms. Dunn-Ramsay and Ms. Regan has really got to know me and through their passion for teaching, I have realized that I also have that same passion for teaching.  I work for the Richmond County School system and with the knowledge I have gained from RCC I feel like that I am a better Substitute Teacher.  I plan on continuing my education to a four year college and get my  Bachelor Degree in teaching.  RCC is helping me pave my way to success.
