My journey at Brunswick Community College started after serving as an Intelligence Specialist in the United States Navy, and it has been a successful one thus far, but not without some adversity. Being a single mother of three children ages 2, 4 and 6, it has been difficult to juggle academics and parenting, especially since I am from Augusta, Georgia. Still, I strive to stay very involved in my children’s activities, volunteering in the community, and even mentoring fellow parents whose children also attend the Early Childhood Education Center at BCC.

I completed my Associate in General Education with honors in the Spring of 2014, and I will complete my Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Associate in Arts degrees in the Spring of 2015. Sometimes I wonder how I am able to balance everything, but I remind myself that I am the person who elected to graduate a year early from high school. Brunswick Community College has only added to my drive to be successful. After I finish my ADN program, I plan to eventually pursue a Master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner, with the ultimate goal of being a flight nurse. It is that drive which has allowed me to be successful at Brunswick Community College.
