Matthew Reese

When I made the decision to return to college at age 41, it was not without trepidation. Having now maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my time at Stanly Community College (SCC), I am certain that I made the right decision when I elected to attend a North Carolina Community College to obtain my Associate in Arts degree. My experience at SCC has been rewarding and enriching beyond my expectations. The instructors and classes have been nothing short of wonderful. I have received a great deal of support from both faculty and staff throughout my time at the school. I have recommended SCC to numerous friends and family members, and will continue to do so.

In January I transferred to Pfeiffer University, where I received a considerable scholarship based on the grades I received at SCC. I feel well prepared by my time at SCC for my remaining undergraduate courses as a Psychology major, which I hope to follow with graduate work. I am deeply grateful to my instructors for having instilled in me the confidence and optimism with which I am now able to approach further learning. The continued pursuit of secondary education has been (and continues to be) a life-changing experience. I would like to express particular gratitude to Dr. Cindy Dean, Professor Daniel Wray, Professor Reese Linnell, Professor Elaine Nelson, Professor Caroline Sawyer, and Professor Kimberly Miller, all of whom offered extensive personal encouragement during my time at SCC.
