Nicole Mena
From day one at Craven I was given support and guidance, yet empowered to be in control of my education and decisions at the same time. When my family relocated to North Carolina, I decided to change career paths and follow my longtime dream of becoming a teacher. I was extremely nervous because I had been out of school for a while and I was unsure of what to expect.
Not only am I receiving a comprehensive education, but I have been given opportunities to help me to develop my leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. I participated in the Student Government Association and I am currently a Student Ambassador, TRIO Peer Tutor, and Phi Theta Kappa member.
I am a mother of two teenage daughters and strive to be an example to them of commitment, passion, and success. Maintaining schoolwork and family life is not always easy, but with the support I receive from my family and the faculty and staff at Craven I have never felt alone. As a student here I am receiving more than just a degree, Craven Community College has allowed me to rediscover and develop my talents along with my passion for education.
