Tim Wilson

After falling short of receiving my diploma from East Gaston High School, my grandmother offered me new home and a fresh start a few counties away to restart my academic career. I arrived at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College intending to receive my GED and a degree in welding in order to get a job after graduation. Once I started making A's in every class I took, I started to see that I had more options than I once thought. It wasn't until I was hired as a Peer Tutor for the Male Minority Mentoring Club, M.I.S.T.E.R. and became involved in the Student Government that I saw just how much potential I truly had.

I am now a member of multiple honor and leadership societies, have won leadership awards, been elected Vice-President of both the Student Government association while continuing to tutor my fellow students; all while maintaining a 4.0 Grade Point Average. Once this semester is over, I will be transferring to either N.C. State or East Carolina University to major in Hospitality Management. It is hard to believe how far I have come over the last two years.
