My name is Tria Brown and I started my academic career at Cape Fear Community College in the spring of 2010; I am now a senior in the Surgical Technology program. My experience at the college has been challenging yet beneficial to boosting my confidence and self-esteem with classes such as Computer Information Systems and Communications. Throughout my time at CFCC, I have maintained a 3.7 GPA or higher, appointed Student Member of the Surgical Technology Advisory Board as well as a Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member.
The hard work and dedication that I displayed during my clinical rotations has help me obtain an externship at Brunswick Novant Medical Center but without the help of the Surgical Technology instructors giving me the base knowledge in this field, and reaching out to community hospitals, I would not have been able to accomplish this. Cape Fear Community College has a state-of-the-art surgical lab that allows us to replicate real life operating room experiences. This opportunity will give me the experience and knowledge needed for future job prospects after I graduate.
