Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Associate degree in Machining, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, in accordance with the guidelines of the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
• Professionalism: Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to student success and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
• Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations, colleagues, and industry stakeholders.
• Instructional Ability: Ability to effectively teach both theoretical and practical content, engage adult learners, and foster a supportive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated competency in related subject matter, with a solid understanding of current practices and trends in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Machining, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, in accordance with the guidelines of the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
• Industry Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a manufacturing, industry, or engineering setting relevant to the teaching field.
• Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in instructional technologies, including learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, or Canvas), Microsoft Office Suite, and other commonly used engineering or educational software.
• Teaching Experience: At least two (2) years of teaching experience in higher education, preferably at the community college level or in adult education settings.
• Community College Familiarity: Understanding of and commitment to the mission of community colleges, including workforce development and student-centered instruction.
• Professional Engagement: Membership in relevant professional associations and participation in continuing education or professional development activities related to manufacturing or instructional practice.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Department Chair of Career and Technical Education and the Dean of Career and Technical Education and in accordance with the overall plan of the College, the curriculum faculty help provide effective learning conditions for all students through the design, planning, organization, execution, and evaluation of student performance in assigned areas, curriculum courses, classes or programs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Responsibilities
1. Teach assigned courses in Computer Integrated Machining and related subjects in alignment with course descriptions from the MTCC Catalog and the NC Community College System Common Course Library.
2. Deliver instruction in a variety of formats (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid) and on flexible schedules, including day, evening, or weekend courses as needed.
3. Develop and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials in accordance with program and accreditation standards.
4. Integrate safety protocols, hands-on learning, and real-world applications in all instructional activities.
Lab and Equipment Management
5. Operate, maintain, and monitor all equipment in the Machining lab, including manual and CNC machines, 3D printers, and simulation software.
6. Ensure a safe, organized, and functional lab environment; coordinate equipment repairs, software updates, and preventive maintenance.
7. Assist in the planning and procurement of tools, materials, and technology to support instructional goals and emerging industry needs.
Curriculum and Program Support
8. Collaborate with the Department Chair in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and course outcomes.
9. Assist with periodic program reviews, curriculum updates, and student learning outcomes assessments as appropriate.
10. Collaborate with faculty, advisory committees, and industry partners to develop and revise curriculum that meets workforce demands and accreditor guidelines.
11. Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes and program effectiveness, using data to inform instructional improvements.
Student Support and Advising
12. Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to students enrolled in the Computer Integrated Machining programs.
13. Provide regular office hours, tutoring, and career guidance to support student retention, progression, and success.
14. Participate in student recruitment, outreach events, and career fairs to promote program visibility and enrollment.
15. Provide academic guidance to assigned students, including participation in registration and advising activities when applicable.
16. Hold regular office hours to support student success and address program/course-related inquiries.
Institutional and Administrative Duties
17. Submit all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner, including syllabi, attendance records, grades, and other reports.
18. Adhere to MTCC and NC Community College System policies, procedures, and instructional standards.
Professional Engagement
19. Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge and teaching effectiveness in the discipline.
20. Maintain appropriate professional affiliations and stay informed of industry trends and workforce needs relevant to engineering technologies.
Other Responsibilities
21. Attend department or college meetings as scheduled.
22. Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean of Career and Technical Education.
