DEFINITION:
The Director of Marketing at Cape Fear Community College leads the development and execution of CFCC’s comprehensive marketing strategy. This pivotal role drives the college’s online presence through the strategic management of digital channels, including the college website, social media platforms, and digital advertising campaigns.
Working closely with the admissions and recruiting teams, the Director of Marketing coordinates strategic communications and marketing initiatives that align with institutional goals. The role also oversees the digital marketing team, which includes professionals in social media, graphic design, and content creation, ensuring a cohesive brand voice across all platforms.
With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and measurable impact, the Director of Marketing plays a vital role in strengthening the college’s brand, attracting and retaining students, and enhancing the institution’s visibility and reputation within the community.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Essential Functions:
- Plan, create, manage, and evaluate large-scale, multi-platform marketing campaigns emphasizing student recruitment, retention, and College program visibility.
- Supervise and mentor creative and technical staff providing guidance, timeline expectations, project oversight, constructive feedback, and opportunities for professional development.
- Support CFCC’s website ensuring accuracy, functionality, appeal to prospective students, ADA compliance, and timely updates.
- Direct workflow using project management best practices to ensure timely execution and alignment with campaign goals.
- Collaborate with the social media team to plan and contribute to content production across social platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Apply CRM management expertise to segment audiences, personalize communications, and evaluate campaign performance.
- Implement personalization strategies to tailor interactions based on prospective students’ preferences and behaviors.
- Monitor social media trends and analytics to develop innovative ways to engage with target audiences.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to clarify messaging and synchronize marketing efforts with recruitment timelines and enrollment objectives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support their marketing needs and promote their programs and initiatives.
- Implement and evaluate paid advertising campaigns across search, display, and social media platforms.
- Implement and evaluate mass media marketing campaigns, including TV, radio, print, and billboard advertising.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for outside advertising agencies, tracking campaign performance and spending.
- Monitor market trends, conduct market research, and analyze data to identify opportunities for improving marketing effectiveness and ROI.
- Provide regular reports on marketing performance and make data-informed recommendations for optimization.
- Collaborate with internal teams across the College to support recruitment efforts, increase retention, and promote internal events.

- Ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information, including student and employee data and proprietary information.
- Support a culture of innovation within the community relations team, encouraging new ideas to keep pace with emerging trends and technologies.
- Facilitate regular meetings and collaborations between marketing and other departments to align strategies and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for synergy between marketing efforts and other departments’ objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Proven experience in marketing strategy development and implementation, preferably in the education sector or a similar complex organization.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve shared goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling marketing messages and materials.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, social media management tools, website content management systems, CRMs (preferably Element 451 or similar) AI tools, and analytics.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating multiple marketing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality results.
- Knowledge of graphic design principles and experience collaborating with designers to create visually appealing marketing materials.
- Familiarity with market research methodologies and data analysis techniques.
- Ability to build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
