Minimum Qualifications

· A minimum of:
o An Associate’s degree in Electricity or Electronics from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education, and eight (8) or more years of full-time equivalent work experience in the Electrical field, or
o Documentation of significant and extensive experience or contributions to the Electrical field demonstrated through 12 or more years of full-time work experience, technical and performance competency, or other qualifying credentials.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
· Working knowledge and utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, databases and instructional software and platforms,
· Prior experience teaching or training High School students, apprentices or adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications

· A Bachelor’s degree in Electricity, Electronics, or related technical field,
· Prior experience teaching within a high school, community college or other workforce training-related environment,
· Prior experience developing course material for high school students, adult learners, or other learner audiences,
· Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills,
· Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments

Position Description

Job Description
The Electrical Systems Technology Program Lead is a full-time, 12-month, instructional staff position located primarily at the Tyson Family Center for Technology in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Director of Applied Technical Programs, the Electrical Systems Technology Program Lead assumes primary responsibility for curriculum development and management, instruction and assessment of the college’s Electrical Systems Technology program of study within the Applied Technical Programs Department. This position provides quality learning opportunities to support South Piedmont Community College students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations by completing a diploma, certificate or degree in Electrical Systems Technology.

Administrative duties of the Program Lead position are considered additional duties beyond teaching. Licenses and/or certifications used for credentialing purposes must be kept current by the employee, unless otherwise noted.

Job Duties
· Create a learning environment that meets the needs of all learners,
· Reflect the College’s mission, vision, values, and core skills in all interactions with students, colleagues and community members,
· Ensure accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college,
· Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to student learning through dedication to delivery of instruction and services, and to student learning outcomes,
· Adopt a personal practice of learning teaching strategies and managing a learning-centered environment,
· Master South Piedmont Community College instructional materials and technology platforms,
· Facilitate learning through classroom activities, online resources and out-of-classroom activities,
· Select and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency,
· Enhance South Piedmont Community College instructional material by contributing additional print and/or video content, or by designing engaging classroom activities,
· Acts as chief advocate for the program and presents a positive image of the program and the college to both internal and external customers,
· Leads the recruitment effort for the program and assures that promotional literature is current, accurate, and available,
· Support learner recruitment activities such as open houses, tours, virtual information sessions, etc.,
· Maintains and updates all master course syllabi specific to the program,
· Maintains and updates all master Canvas shell documentation specific to the program,
· Manages on-going Program audits and reviews in collaboration with SPCC compliance colleagues,
· Creates and submits semester class schedules to Director, Applied Technical Programs, for review and agreement,
· Coordinates the selection of textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency,
· Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered college,
· Collaborate with High School Principles and other secondary school colleagues to support Secondary Education Partnerships (SEPs),
· Collaborate with area employers to engage them in the instructional activity of the Program, and maintain alignment between Program curriculum and employee skill needs,
· Stay current with developments in the field of learning theory and learning technologies,
· Stay current with developments in the discipline by earning additional industry-recognized credentials as assigned by the Director, Applied Technical Programs,
· Actively participate in continuous program improvement through the assessment of learning outcomes at the course and program levels,
· Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following campuses: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus or Tyson Family Center (both in Monroe), in high school and community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a correctional setting (Anson County),
· Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online,
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Applied Technical Programs, Dean, Continuing Education, and Vice President of Business & Workforce Solutions.
