Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years’ experience in providing PC and audio-visual support in education or business/industry.
  • Knowledge of and ability to configure and utilize audio/video streaming software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of desktop computers and basic networking concepts.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations when numerous and complex demands are involved.
  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and to learn new applications and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Fingerprinting required upon hire.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) certification required.   In addition to the standard background check, this position requires having a clear fingerprint-based criminal records search through the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
  • Willingness to learn multiple roles and be flexible with work assignment on a daily basis.
  • Capability to work independently, possess excellent customer service skills, and ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and third-party agencies required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • When providing telephone support, must be able to understand end users’ descriptions of their computer problems in order to correctly troubleshoot them. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, and reaching, with the ability to lift and maneuver items weighting up to 50 pounds required.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, and odors.
  • Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
  • In addition to regular office hours, position sometimes requires overtime and/or evening hours.

SUMMARY

 

Open until filled-

Provide print management, media technology assistance and support to faculty/staff.  Perform technical work in diagnosing and troubleshooting PCs (windows and Macs), printers, audio-visual (AV) equipment, and communication network equipment.  Perform installation and maintenance of PC hardware, software, and audio-visual equipment.   Maintain, monitor, and support the Myers Center Multipurpose control room and zoom rooms. Work closely with faculty/staff to provide audio-visual services. Report to the Network Infrastructure/Server Specialist.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work collaboratively with College faculty, staff, students, and other resource individuals outside the College in identifying and responding to information system and audio-visual needs and priorities.
  • Tracks tickets and work effort in helpdesk system.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot computers (desktop and laptop), printers, involving hardware, software, and/or network problems and audio-visual equipment issues, including but not limited to, webcams, microphones, Crestron AV controls and video conferencing issues. Install televisions, new PC hardware and software at all College sites.
  • Run AV and/or network cables to new equipment and locations.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of inventory for all podium equipment in order to help plan refresh cycles.
  • Research and keep abreast of new and emerging technology in order to support planning and decision making.
  • Research new hardware and software for compatibility with existing hardware and/or network.
  • Respond to service requests on audio-visual equipment (such as overhead projectors, LCD projectors, document cameras, sound systems).
  • Provide technical support for the College instructional labs/classrooms and faculty/staff desktops, laptops, and audio-visual equipment, servers, and other computer-related hardware and applications.
  • Assist PC Technicians and Network Infrastructure/Server Specialists in providing technical support for College network, hardware and software, and other information systems.
  • Work collaboratively with Technology Services staff members to develop team cross-training opportunities and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional and ethical practice in representing the College. Maintain confidentiality of human resources information and employee records. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline with continued adherence to professional accountability. 
  • Provide a high level of service to customers by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships. Accept responsibility for managing situations and problems. Work cooperatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively to the achievement of team and College objectives. Adhere to the College’s policies, procedures, and other established guidelines.
  • Identify and implement improvements to maximize effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Provide local support for both wired and wireless networks, and data and voice networks.
  • Work with vendors and AV Systems Engineers to obtain quotes and execute designs for teaching, learning spaces and conference rooms.
  • Maintain inventory records of location of equipment, status of repairs, etc. and controls loan equipment inventory.
  • Creates documentation to be used in training for faculty and offers assistance in the classrooms as needed.
