- Minimum of two years successful community work experience within the last five years
- Must be an approved instructor through the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association (must complete a train-the-trainer course prior to providing instruction)

- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Education or Social Work
- Three or more years of community experienced
- Hold a Community Health Worker certification
Special Note:
- Selected candidate must be approved by the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association as an instructor and complete the train-the-trainer course as part of the hiring process. Final hiring determination will be dependent upon this approval and completed training if the candidate is not already approved instructor who has completed the required training.
Position Description

DEFINITION:
To plan, coordinate, and provide classroom and practical experiences to college students through lecture, demonstration, and work-based learning experiences for the Community Health Worker course. Instructional hours may include day, evening, or on-line instructional assignments. This position will also have interprofessional collaboration with other programs withing the Health and Human Services Division.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Department Chair, Allied Health and Human Services
- May receive general supervision from the Dean, Health and Human Services.
- Exercises no supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Provide instruction in accordance with certifying agency’s standards of the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association for students based on the core competencies that will prepare students to become a certified Community Health Worker
- Provide classroom instruction that reflects varied learning styles to diverse students
- Collaborate with community partners to provide work-based learning opportunities for the students.
- Evaluate student performance in the classroom and work-based learning site
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
- Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area
- Provide feedback and implement innovative techniques to support retention and progression of students through the course
- Complete all reports and other documents related to the instruction of the course
Other Important Functions:
- Assess the relevancy and impact of curriculum; revise and improve curriculum.
- Oversee and participate in work-based learning experiences and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Professional skills, knowledge and attributes within the Community Health Worker profession
- Classroom, laboratory, and clinical instructional techniques and procedures
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures
- Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment
- Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration
Ability To:
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
