Associate’s degree preferred. Certificate or degree in field of instruction preferred.
Expertise of the particular program and ability to teach inmates.
Three to five years’ experience in the field of instruction preferred.

Position Description

General Description: The Occupational Extension Instructor for Residential Wiring, under the authority of the Vice President for Instruction and reporting to the Dean of Adult Education, is responsible for providing quality, effective instruction in the assigned area at Scotland Correctional Institution.
Examples Of Essential Duties:
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
1. Provide instruction with a demonstrated knowledge of electrical theory, residential wiring, and the National Electrical Code.
2.  Maintain security of tools and materials in accordance with Correctional facility’s policies and procedures. 
 3. Administer proficiency examinations and stay abreast of student’s classroom needs.
4. Assist in the continual evaluation of the curriculum, developing course outlines, teaching
outlines, and course descriptions as required.
5. Recommend materials, supplies, and equipment needed to support the program.
6. Maintain accurate and complete records as required for compliance and reporting purposes.
7. Submit reports in a timely manner.
8. Maintain supportive relationships with prison staff and other academic programs at the prison and the College.
9. Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
10. Keep College administration informed of matters pertaining to program and sufficient enrollment for continuation of programming. 
11. Abide by all of the directives set forth in the formal agreement between Richmond
Community College and Scotland Correctional Institution.
12. Accepts other duties as assigned.
