Position Description

DEFINITION
The Southeast Area Technical High School Liaison serves as the primary intermediary between Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) and SEA-TECH
The SEA-TECH Liaison position is a full-time, 12-month staff position requiring at least 40 on-campus hours per week. In accordance with the needs of the College, the public schools, and the students, this position will sometimes require working during days when the College or the public school is not in session. The Liaison will teach one course per term unless the course is ACA 122; if ACA 122, the Liaison will teach up to two sections of ACA 122 for SEA-TECH students. Additional courses may be taught on a contract basis pending approval of supervisor.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direct supervision from CFCC’s Dean of Advising and Educational Partnerships. -
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENTS–Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Essential Functions:- Support SEA-TECH students in achieving their academic goals
- Coordinate SEA-TECH students’ targeted intervention needs between the college partner and the high school counselor and support system, such as tutoring, counseling, mentoring, assistance with completing necessary forms, paperwork, etc. that will lead to success in college courses and degree completion.
- Advise students about the possible consequences of academic decisions and provide guidance to individual students.
- Assist in developing and implementing guidelines, standards, and criteria related to the students’ eligibility for enrollment in different types of college courses (based on CIHS guidelines) in concert with SEA-TECH counselor and SEA-TECH Career Development Coordinator or other relevant SEA-TECH faculty and/or staff members.
- Assist SEA-TECH students with college course registration, withdrawals, and program changes.
- Assist with the dissemination of SEA-TECH students’ college course grades to appropriate SEA-TECH personnel.
- Assist with development and implementation of biannual orientation programs for students and parents, outlining expectations, procedures, policies and criteria for the students’ successful completion of their college coursework and degree.
- Collect, analyze, and share data at the end of each semester from SEA-TECH students’ courses taken, course loads, grades, and student success and failure rates.
- Evaluate SEA-TECH student progression in college classes to determine if academic support services are needed to ensure students’ success.
- Assist in developing and implementing integrated curricula in accordance with SEA-TECH and CFCC curriculum program requirements.
- Coordinate with college faculty and staff to develop and implement programs that support early college goals (exposure to programs, college speakers, college tours, student support on college campus).
- Facilitate curriculum planning between secondary and postsecondary subject areas to reduce redundancy and maximize collaboration.
- Collaborate with CFCC department chairs and deans to schedule college courses for SEA-TECH students.
- Assist SEA-TECH students in developing schedules that support gradual transitions into increasing levels of independence in postsecondary coursework.
- Provide reports to SEA-TECH personnel as appropriate to include enrollment reports to facilitate book orders
- Coordinate SEA-TECH and CFCC scheduling and space allocation.
- Review and communicate standardized policies and procedures for placement of SEA-TECH students into CFCC courses.
- Assist with the placement testing and registration of SEA-TECH students in CFCC courses.
- Facilitate cooperative planning to align SEA-TECH and CFCC expectations and policies.
- Support CFCC faculty who teach college courses to SEA-TECH students.
- Stay current with the Cooperative Innovative High Schools (Career and College Promise) policies provided by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).
- Adhere to the Cooperative Innovative High School (Career and College Promise) policies provided by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).
- Provide guidance to SEA-TECH on the Cooperative Innovative High School (Career and College Promise) policies provided by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) as needed.
- Maintain a strong commitment to the continuous enhancement of the SEA-TECH/CFCC partnership.
- Maintain appropriate records and reports
- Provide grades and schedules in a timely manner to appropriate SEA-TECH staff.
- Collaborate with SEA-TECH counselor(s) and/or other relevant SEA-TECH faculty and staff to increase the percentage of students completing degrees, diplomas, and/or certifications.
- Maintain an open line of communication with SEA-TECH principal via email, phone, and face to face/virtual meetings as needed to discuss SEA-TECH students and staff needs and provide progress checks for graduating students and updates to principal.
Other Important Functions:
- Communicate timely and essential information to appropriate SEA-TECH and CFCC students, faculty, and staff.
- Serve on standing committees and working groups by appointment and as needed.
- Represent SEA-TECH and CFCC to the community and external organizations.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
