Position Description

Schedule: Up to 29 hours per week; Flexible scheduling required, including evenings and weekends
The Testing Center Proctor plays a crucial role in supporting the college’s mission by ensuring the secure, fair, and efficient administration of standardized assessments for adult learners and College and Career Readiness (CCR) students. This role supports student success by facilitating assessment processes, providing bilingual support when needed, and accurately managing testing data. This position may also assist other departments across campus with standardized assessment testing as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

Testing Administration
- Proctor standardized assessments on campus and at designated community sites, ensuring adherence to all testing protocols and accommodations. Assessments include but are not limited to TABE, CASAS, ACCUPLACER, and HiSET in the College and Career Readiness Department.
- Assessments may also include other college departments, such as TEAS for Nursing and other curriculum areas. These will be coordinated by the Director of Prison and HRD programs.
- Support testing needs for both CCR and other departments, including on-campus and off-site locations (e.g., adult learning centers, correctional facilities, and workforce development sites).
- Set up testing rooms, including the necessary technology and materials, to ensure an environment conducive to focused test-taking.
- Distribute and collect test materials, monitor test-takers, and maintain the integrity and security of testing environments.
- Provide testing accommodations to students with documented needs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional testing policies, including the NC Community College System’s CCR testing guidelines.
Student Intake and Support:
- Verify student identification and eligibility; assist students with completing intake and registration forms.
- Provide bilingual communication support (English/Spanish) for students, particularly those in ESL programs, acting as a liaison between students, CCR staff, and other college departments.
- Conduct student orientation sessions of expectations and ensure students complete information packets.
- Explain testing procedures and assessment results clearly to students, ensuring they understand the next steps.
- May conduct student orientation sessions of expectations and initial onboarding.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Accurately collect, organize, and submit completed tests and intake packets to CCR office staff.
- May assist with entering student data and assessment results into the Advansys system and uploading completed assessments.
- Report any testing irregularities or academic integrity concerns according to established procedures.
Other Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service to a diverse student population, including adult learners, ESL students, and individuals with varying educational backgrounds.
- Stay current with CCR policies, NC Community College System testing requirements, and best practices in test administration.
- Collaborate with CCR instructors, staff, and other college departments to support student assessment and placement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support CCR goals and student success initiatives.
