Curriculum Standard Revision Approval
Per 1D SBCCC 400.9 (b) A revision of an existing curriculum standard shall:
(1) Have written concurrence by two-thirds of colleges approved to offer the curriculum program; and
(2) Be in alignment with criteria outlined in 1D SBCCC 400.10(e).
(3) The President of the North Carolina Community College System shall have the authority to approve or deny the revision of an existing curriculum standard.
I am pleased to approve the requested revision for the following curriculum standard which is in compliance with 1D SBCCC 400.9 (b):
Taxidermy (Diploma) (D30380)
Effective Term: Spring 2025

Outline of Curriculum Standard Revision
Information: The System through delegated authority to the System President, has approved the following curriculum standard revision listed below:
Curriculum Program: Taxidermy (Diploma) (D30380)
Effective Term: Spring 2025
Proposed Revisions: The North Carolina Community College System Office requests the following revisions to the Taxidermy (Diploma) (D30380) Curriculum Standard:
- Remove TXY 131 Fish Preparation (5 SHC)
- Remove TXY 133 Fish Finishing (5 SHC)
Rationale of the Requesting College: The requested revision to the curriculum standard aligns with the changes industry standards. Fish preparation is no longer needed in the core of this program as a specialty area because fish mounts now tend to involve painting a plastic mount. The requesting college, Montogomery Community College, is the only college approved to offer this program.
