Lena Effler

Lena Effler began her education journey at McDowell Technical Community College in 2011.  For her it has been a long road, but says that it was well worth it in the end.  Getting married after high school at eighteen, Effler decided to get a job and raise her son.  Everything in Effler’s life seemed to be going good, until she had to pick up the pieces after her ex-husband left her.  In order to make a better life for her son and herself Effler made the decision to enroll at MTCC and to take control. 

Since her enrollment she has received her Office Administration degree, Medical Transcription certificate, Medical Billing and Coding certificate and she is on track to gradure from the Health Information Technology Associate degree program in the Spring of 2017 including earning her Registered Health Information Technician credential.  Effler is now happily married and looking foward to the future because she is now in control and she can have a life that she can be proud of.
