State Board approves interim presidents for two community colleges
RALEIGH, N.C. – The State Board of Community Colleges today (June 14) approved interim presidents for two institutions.
Meeting by telephone, the board approved the following appointments:
- Dr. Travis Twiford at College of The Albemarle, effective July 1. A retired school administrator, Twiford served as superintendent of the Camden County, Rocky Mount and Elizabeth City-Pasquotank school systems. He will succeed Dr. Robert Wynegar, who is resigning June 30.
- Steven Hunt and Dr. William Findt at Robeson Community College. Hunt, the college’s vice president of workforce development and continuing education, will serve from July 1-31. Findt, who retired earlier this year after 10 years as president of Bladen Community College, will become interim president Aug. 1. Robeson’s current president, Dr. Kimberly Gold, will become senior vice president and chief academic officer of the NC Community College System on July 1.
The board also reappointed Keith Adams and Fred Edwards to the advisory board for the Textile Technology Center at Gaston College. Adams, of Asheboro, is manager of filament yarn development at Burlington Industries. Edwards, of Monroe, is president and chief operating officer of Goulston Technologies. They will serve four-year terms.
