State Board Installs New Board Member, IIANC Presents Foundation with $60,000
RALEIGH – On Friday, William Holder, the newest member of the State Board was sworn in by Judge Chris Dillon, NC Court of Appeals. Serving as a State At-large member appointed by the Governor, Holder is a retired Lieutenant for the NY/NJ Port Authority and he currently owns McDonald’s franchises in New York and Raleigh. He has been married to his wife Deborah for 34 years and has twin daughters.
Additionally, the NC Community Colleges Foundation, Inc. received a $60,000 donation from Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC). The additional monies will provide scholarships to students interested in studying Risk Management and Insurance to help fill a talent gap in the insurance industry as summarized in a 2015 article published by AlbuquerqueJournal. The IIANC-NCCCS Partnership Scholarship has provided a total of $240,000 in scholarship contributions to NC Community College students over the past five years. The Risk Management & Insurance specialty track is part of the System’s Accounting and Financial Alignment Project in collaboration with NC Department of Public Instruction.
