State Board of Community Colleges to Meet
RALEIGH – The State Board of Community Colleges will hold its regularly scheduled meeting Thursday and Friday, April 14 and 15 in Raleigh. The two-day meeting will begin Thursday, April 14 at 11:30 a.m. with a meeting of the Personnel Committee, followed by an issues luncheon on “2016 Bellwether Award – Instructional Programs and Services” presented by the Gaston College Bellwether Award Team. Gaston College was announced as one of the 2016 recipients of the 23rd annual Bellwether Awards for their college program “It All Begins with a SPARC3: The Power of Inquiry and Undergraduate Research at the Community College.”
Committee meetings will resume at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Finance Committee will provide budget and bond updates, as well as vote on funding the new Align4NCWorks Pilot: A Taste of Industry. The Programs Committee will review updates to the Career and College Promise Operating Procedures as a result of the College Board’s SAT college readiness benchmark changes. The Strategic Planning Committee will receive updates on Governor Pat McCrory’s 67% postsecondary goal, Align4NCWorks strategic plan, NCWorks Career Coaches and Career and College Ready – 12th Grade Remediation.
The full Board will convene Friday at 9 a.m. All meetings are open to the public and will take place in the NC Community College System Office at 200 W. Jones Street in Raleigh.
