State Board of Community Colleges to Meet

RALEIGH – The State Board of Community Colleges will hold its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, August 13-15, 2014.

The Personnel Committee will meet via teleconference at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.  The Strategic Planning Committee will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. The Board will convene at 12 p.m. to hear a presentation on, “A Vision for a New System of Accountability,” which will provide an overview of the recommendations resulting from the Legislative Program Audit Study Committee.  The Program Audit Study Committee is tasked by the General Assembly, per S.L. 2013-360, Section 10.159(c), to determine how North Carolina community college program audit procedures may be streamlined to minimize the administrative burden on the institutions being audited and how funding mechanisms may be changed to reduce reliance on contact hours.

Committee meetings will continue at 1:30 p.m.  The Policy Committee will receive a legislative update.  The Programs Committee will take action on the Customized Training Program 2013-14 annual report.  The Finance Committee will take action on the 2014-15 State Aid and Budget Allocations as outlined in the 2014-15 State Budget.

The full Board will convene Friday at 9 a.m.  All meetings are open to the public and will take place at the NC Community College System Office at 200 W. Jones Street in Raleigh.
