I have wanted to be a Medical Laboratory Technician since the first day working in the Laboratory as a Phlebotomist in Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center. The laboratory staff is so knowledgeable about critical values of patient’s samples, the areas of pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processes. They are essential liaisons between physicians and patients. They have reasoned judgement on lab results and a demonstration of commitment to the patient.

In 2017, I decided to enroll in the MLT program at Halifax Community College. The teachers and staff here are always willing to help me. They have greatly contributed to my success at HCC. I believe I have the necessary skills and knowledge to become an MLT and make a positive contribution to the medical field and community that I love. Thanks to the wonderful staff I have met here at HCC.
