Supported by the System’s Foundation, this scholarship recognizes the outstanding efforts of students representing disability identity and in honor of those who have served our country. The Foundation provides seven scholarships of up to $1,000 for curriculum students and four scholarships of up to $750 for workforce continuing education students each year. The scholarship may help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, assistive technology, transportation, childcare and other components of the total cost of attendance for 2023-24.

 

Curriculum (CU) Student Eligibility Criteria 

  • Be a resident of North Carolina.
  • Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2023-24.
  • Complete the NCCCF Special Recognition Scholarship application.  
  • Submit an essay explaining your interest in the degree program, your goals after graduation and how the scholarship will help you financially.  
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average at or above the level required for graduation. 
  • Enroll or plan to enroll full-time. An applicant with an exception to the full-time requirement as an accommodation to access services and/or maintain eligibility for insurance or other benefits may not be disqualified. If enrolled part-time under the advisement from disability services, a statement from the disability service staff stating that status is due to an accommodation. 
  • Present proof of documented disability (may work with Disabilities Services at the college to obtain this information) or self-identify as an individual with a disability.   

 

Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) Student Eligibility Criteria 

  • Be a resident of North Carolina. 
  • Complete the NCCCF Special Recognition Scholarship application.  
  • Submit an essay explaining your interest in the pathway/courses, your goals after completion of the pathways/courses and how the scholarship will help you financially.
  • Enrolling in Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) pathways/courses offered for 96 hours or more and leading to a state or industry recognized credential. 
  • Present proof of documented disability (must work with Disabilities Services at the college to obtain this information and Disabilities Services must sign off on the application.

Scholarship candidates shall be selected, and the scholarships awarded without regard to race, gender, color, creed, religious preference, age, national origin, or disability.
