- What do you love most about the NC Community College System? What I love most about the North Carolina Community College System is its unwavering commitment to creating opportunity for everyone, regardless of where they come from or where they are in life. The System serves as one of our state’s greatest equalizers by providing affordable, high-quality education, workforce training, and pathways to economic mobility for students of all ages and backgrounds.
- A fun fact about you? At my first job, I shadowed my grandfather who was a plumber and knows the trade! I played basketball in my youth and was the first African American mayor of my town and the first ED of his nonprofit organization. I started the “Trip Program,” a grant-funded initiative to connect disadvantaged populations to healthcare and other health-related access, including grocery, exercise, retail, and education (including community colleges) – it became a state model.
