Lisa Estep is Finance Director for Griffin Estep Benefit Group, Inc., a Wilmington-based employee benefits firm. She brings to the Board a strong financial background combined with deep public-education governance experience.
Estep previously served two terms on the New Hanover County Board of Education, where she focused on student achievement, fiscal accountability, and operational performance. Her experience in K-12 governance gives her a clear view of the academic pathway that leads students into community colleges and the workforce.
As Chair of the Finance Committee, Estep is focused on ensuring the System’s financial decisions deliver maximum impact for students, colleges, and employers. She and her husband, Hank, are parents of five children, all of whom have attended their local community college, an experience that grounds her commitment to expanding access to high-quality, affordable education across North Carolina.
