About

Congressman David Price is a native of Erwin, Tennessee, where his father was a high school principal and his mother was an English teacher. He attended Mars Hill College and transferred to the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar. He holds a Bachelor of Divinity and Ph. D. In political science from Yale University and is professor emeritus of political science and public policy at Duke University. He served as US Representative for North Carolina’s Fourth District, 1987-94 and 1997-2022. He chaired the Appropriations subcommittees on Homeland Security and Transportation-HUD and authored the Advanced Technological Education act, which established a grant program for community colleges at the National Science Foundation.
