About

The Honorable David Price is professor emeritus of political science and public policy at Duke University and one of North Carolina’s most experienced voices on federal workforce and education policy.

Price served as U.S. Representative for North Carolina’s Fourth District from 1987 to 1994 and 1997 to 2022, chairing Appropriations subcommittees on Homeland Security and Transportation-HUD. He authored the Advanced Technological Education Act, which established the long-standing National Science Foundation grant program supporting community colleges nationwide.

Price holds a Bachelor of Divinity and a Ph.D. in political science from Yale University and is a Morehead Scholar alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to which he transferred from Mars Hill, then a junior college. He brings to the Board decades of federal policy experience and a longstanding commitment to expanding access to high-quality technical education.
