
Sam Searcy is a business and community leader with more than a decade of executive experience in the life sciences sector. He has built and led executive teams in small and mid-sized companies, with a track record of launching industry-disrupting products and scaling efficient, high-performing organizations.
Searcy previously served in the North Carolina Senate, representing Wake County, where he engaged on economic development, education, and workforce issues.
He brings to the Board a combination of private-sector executive experience and public-policy insight directly relevant to the System’s workforce alignment goals. As Vice-Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Searcy is focused on supporting innovation, accountability, and stronger connections between the community college system and North Carolina’s life sciences and high-growth industries.
