Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline (History) required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
Position Description
Basic Purpose of Position
Under the supervision of the Dean of College Transfer and in cooperation with the Associate Vice President for Teaching and Learning, the instructor is responsible for assigned teaching duties and other related institutional activities. In certain cases, experience and demonstrated competence may substitute for advanced academic preparation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and develop each course taught in accordance with acceptable academic standards and teach assigned courses in accordance with the approved curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain current course outlines and objectives for assigned classes, and contribute to the development of new courses and revisions of existing ones.
- Participate in a continuous program of curriculum evaluation.
- Assist in developing program budgets for supplies and equipment, and submit requisition information for the administration to order these items.
- Evaluate each student by keeping necessary records to provide the college with an adequate profile of each student.
- Serve as a faculty advisor to students as assigned and be available for advising of students on all designated registration days.
- Provide all class records/grades to the Registrar and to the Curriculum Records and Reporting Specialist.
- Assist in recruiting students to the program.
- Attend all required college and departmental meetings.
- Provide budget input to division head and/or program Dean for respective classes taught.
- Maintain a professional development plan on a yearly basis.
- Responsible for all material/equipment for classes taught.
- During the Fall and Spring semesters, faculty are expected to be present on campus for a minimum of thirty (30) hours per week, including five (5) office hours.
- Participate in developing the semester schedule(s) regarding classes and times taught.
- Determine methods of examination and grading.
