CC26-02707/01/2026
From: Dr. Phillip Price, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
To: Presidents, Chief Business Officers

G.S. 115D-5 states that “[t]he State Board shall have authority with respect to individual institutions… to establish and regulate student tuition and fees within policies for tuition and fees established by the General Assembly.”

The General Assembly did not include a tuition or registration fee increase in either the House or Senate Committee Reports for the 2026 Appropriations Act, Senate Bill 257. Additionally, as of today, there has been no legislative action that would call for any fee increase. Therefore, curriculum tuition charged to students for the 2026-27 academic year remains at current levels:

Residents: The per credit hour charge shall remain $76; up to a maximum per semester of $1,216, based on 16 credit hours of instruction.

Non-Residents: the per credit hour charge shall remain $268; up to a maximum per semester of $4,288, based upon 16 credit hours of instruction.

Likewise, continuing education registration fees will remain at current levels and continue to be based on the course length, consistent with the following schedule:

Course Length

Registration Fee

0-24 Hours

$70

25-50 Hours

$125

50+ Hours

$180
