On August 14, 2026, the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC) voted to amend the State Board Code, 1D SBCCC 400.8 – Courses for Curriculum Programs. The amendment will remove supplemental courses, as they are now incorporated into developmental courses. It will also extend the timeframe for designating a course as obsolete and clarify standards language whether a curriculum course may receive a transfer designation.

The amendment will be effective September 1, 2026. At that time, the amended rule will be published on the North Carolina Community College System’s website, State Board Code – NCCCS (nccommunitycolleges.edu).  For your convenience, a copy of the rule in its final form is attached to this memorandum.
