On September 18, 2026, the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC) temporarily amended the State Board Code, 1C SBCCC 200.100 – Paid Parental Leave. The temporary amendment aligns with SL 2026-40 which extends paid parental leave to 12 weeks for eligible full-time state employees and 6 weeks for part-time state employees, including community college employees.

The temporary amendment will be effective October 1, 2026, and remain in place until a permanent rule is adopted. At that time, the temporary amended rule will be published on the North Carolina Community College System’s website, State Board Code – NCCCS (nccommunitycolleges.edu).  For your convenience, a copy of the temporary rule in its final form is attached to this memorandum.
