On October 16, 2026, the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC) voted to adopt the State Board Code, 1B SBCCC 500.3 – North Carolina Student Lifeline Information. The adoption aligns with Session Law 2025-41, which requires the SBCC to adopt a policy mandating that all community colleges provide students with the phone numbers for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and the NC Peer Warmline. This requirement takes effect beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year.

The adoption into the State Board Code will be effective November 1, 2026. At that time, the adopted rule will be published on the North Carolina Community College System’s website, State Board Code – NCCCS (nccommunitycolleges.edu).  For your convenience, a copy of the rule in its final form is attached to this memorandum.
