This is a hands-on, build-as-you-go session where participants work directly inside AI tools to redesign assessments in real time.
In Assess This!, NC community college instructors will actively work inside AI tools to redesign real assessments in real time. Participants will use Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Claude, and NotebookLM to analyze existing assignments, identify where AI can shortcut learning, and redesign assessments that require visible reasoning, judgment, and contextual application.
You will leave with:
- A redesigned, AI-resistant assessment you can use immediately
- Prompt strategies that position AI as a thinking partner, not a shortcut
- Practical experience using ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and/or NotebookLM to anchor student work in course materials
AI isn’t banned in this session; it’s on the table, in your hands, and part of the design process.
