Aaron Humphrey

Aaron Humphrey thought that completing college was something that was impossible for him to achieve.  Struggling in areas such as math in high school Humphrey did not receive very high grades.  Instead of college Humphrey started working in fast food restaurants and worked himself up to management positions.  He stayed in this setting for so long because it was familiar, it paid his bills, and it was a comfortable environment.  Over the years he decided he wanted a better paying job so he worked at a manufacturing plant working long hours and unsatisfactory working conditions.  Humphrey was looking for a change so he could have a better standard of living, so he enrolled and began classes at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

Amazed by the professors because of how encouraging and the positive experience they gave him.  Within his first semester, he quickly came to realize that he was capable of more than he thought.  Humphrey thanks the teachers at Rowan-Cabarrus because of them he was able to gain more confidence in himself.  Each class he took gave him not only the tools he needed to succeed but also gave him skills to excel in later ones.  After graduating in the Spring of 2017 with an Associates in Science degree, Humphrey plans to transfer to UNC-Chapel Hill to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in teaching English.
